Eastern Counties Spaniel Society will be holding a training day for novice handlers and their spaniels on Saturday 26th April 2025.
Handlers also have the option to be assessed for the KC Working Gundog Certificate (on dummies).
This event is open to both members and non-members.
Numbers will be limited to 20 handlers and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. All additional applications will be held on a reserve list.
This training day gives novice handlers the great opportunity to work with extremely experienced trainers, including KC Panel Judges. Our trainers have competed at the highest level, and all want to help the next generation of handlers/competitors. This is a superb chance for novice handlers to ask questions and to take advantage of the vast amount of knowledge/experience held by our trainers.
Handlers will be split into small groups; we will attempt to group handlers/dogs with similar experience by asking all successful applicants to complete a questionnaire ahead of the day, so please be honest! Each group will spend time with each trainer covering areas such as general obedience, steadiness, retrieving and hunting.
The day will finish with an introduction to the working test for all handlers that wish to have a go. This will give handlers the opportunity to be judged and receive feedback from our trainers. Handlers can also opt to be assessed for the KC Working Gundog Certificate (on dummies).
Mark and Shirley Stephens have kindly agreed that we can hold this training day on their working farm near Wixoe which provides plenty of ground for training and includes areas of white grass, woodland and water.
Refreshments will be provided on arrival and throughout the day, please bring your own lunch there will be a short interval for this.
Cost of the day: £50 for members or £60 non-members. There will be an additional charge of £10 for handlers wishing to be assessed for the KC Working Gundog Certificate (on dummies).
